Residents of Albuquerque have known their city to be a hub of arts and creativity. New Mexico in general attracts artists of all mediums, from all corners of the globe, to come and soak in the mystical forces of the four elements.
With a nod to New Mexico’s inaugural Fashion Week, the Rail Yards Market is inviting you to come on down and display your finest “Burque Style.” Come dressed to impress and we will feature your photos on the Rail Yards Market website for all of the world to see how we represent ‘estilo‘ in Nuevo Mexico.
The Rail Yards Market provides the Albuquerque community the chance to be exposed to local entertainers, artists, educators, growers, food vendors and everyday folks exhibiting their “Burque Style.” This Sunday we have:
Live Art Zone
Jennifer Lauren of Frankie + Mae and a student at the Southwest University of Visual Arts (SUVA), demoing her sewing skills in the Live Art Zone. “What makes Frankie + Mae’s toys so unique is the creation of precious forest animals with the combination of vintage floral & modern geometric fabrics.” Katie Calico from the Talking Fountain Gallery will also be demonstrating and creating at the Live Art Zone.
Pop-Up Art Zone
Friends of the Orphan Signs will be on hand to show their restored vintage signs. Friends of the Orphan Signs restores “orphaned signs” of the abandoned motels of eastern-Central Avenue, left behind from a time gone by and “navigates this territory with a commitment to keep open the possibility for a non-commercial, stylistically hybrid, and changing voice of collective origin. We want to inject mystery, humor and surprise into the visual landscape of Albuquerque’s roads, and we invite all to participate.”
Super artist, educator, entertainer Stephanie Galloway will be on hand in the AM to lead the kiddos in jewelry making. Stephanie recycles items that we regularly discard and makes them into works of art! In the afternoon, kids will be making colorful, bouncing, polymer balls with Princess Marisol!
Yes Organic Boutique and Spa use only organic, natural, wild crafted sustainable ingredients in their natural beauty products. They will be on-hand to provide samples of their infused herbal mixtures and discuss healing through herbal remedies.
Poets Justin Romaine and Manuel Gonzalez – Warehouse 508.
Fashion show with Kymloc Designs, Lovelight Boutique, Radiant Moonchild Designs, and Fashions from Cjetta. Other performers include: Rastafari Works, Clark, Asliani, and the National Institute of Flamenco. Please click here for full schedule of events and event-times.
